PROVIRONUM 25MG contain Mesterolone which belongs to a group of medicine called androgens. It is used in men with hypogonadism, to replace testosterone, a natural male hormone which controls normal sexual development in men. Male hypogonadism is a condition where the body does not produce enough testosterones. This hormone is essential for the development and maintenance of the male reproductive organ and other male characteristics, such as deep voice, sexual drive, hair growth, muscle mass and body fat distribution. It works similar, to the natural male sex hormone testosterone. It supplements the amount of male hormone the body produce naturally. It helps in treating conditions associated with low testosterone levels in the body.

Always take PROVIRONUM 25MG exactly as your doctor has told you. This medicine must be taken with or without food. Try to take this medicine at the same time each day. It should be swallowed whole with water. Do not crush or chew the medicine.

SERIOUS
- Prostatic hyperplasia (symptoms such as changes in urination, or blood in the urine or ejaculate), prostatic cancer
- Unwanted, frequent, or prolonged and painful erections
- Severe stomach pain or tenderness
- Feeling unwell
COMMON
- Headache
- Fluid retention

HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS
Headache:
Apply hot or cold-water bag on your head. Take rest in a quiet and dark room. Drink tea or coffee.
Stomach pain:
Try to rest and relax. You can eat and drink slowly or have smaller and frequent meals. Applying heat pad or covered hot water bottle on your stomach which may also help. If still pain persists, speak to your doctor.

KIDNEY
PROVIRONUM 25MG should be used with caution in patients suffering from active kidney diseases. Before taking, this medicine, consult your doctor.
LIVER
PROVIRONUM 25MG is not recommended in patients with active liver diseases (previous or existing liver tumours). Before taking, this medicine, consult your doctor.
ALLERGY
Do not take PROVIRONUM 25MG if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to Mesterolone or any other ingredients in this medicine.
HEART DISEASE
PROVIRONUM 25MG should be used with caution in patients suffering from active heart diseases. Consult your doctor for advice.
OTHERS
Tell your doctor if you have or had a condition such as,
- Prostate disease
- Male breast cancer
- High blood calcium levels
- Difficulty passing urine
- Migraine
- Epilepsy
- Sleep apnoea (abnormal pauses in breathing during sleep)
- Polycythaemia (a blood disorder where too many red blood cells are being produced)
- Porphyria a rare metabolising disorder
- During puberty can stunt your growth
INTERACTIONS
Talk to your doctor if you are taking,
- Phenobarbital or phenytoin (used to treat seizures)
- Cyclosporin (used to suppress the immune system)
- Medicines used for diabetes
- Thyroxine (used to replace low thyroid levels)
- Oral anticoagulants such as warfarin (used to treat or prevent blood clots)
- Neuromuscular blockers such as anaesthetics (used to cause temporary paralysis)
