What is RU58841?
RU-58841, also known as PSK-3841 or HMR-3841, is a nonsteroidal antiandrogen (NSAA). This compound is structurally similar to NSAA RU-58642 but contains different side chains. These compounds are similar in chemical structure to nilutamide and are related to flutamide, bicalutamide, and enzalutamide, all of which are similar to NSAA. RU-58841 can be synthesized by constructing a hydantoin moiety or coupling it to 5,5-dimethyl hydantoin via an aryl group.
RU-58841 produces cyanuramide (RU-56279) and RU-59416 as animal metabolites. Cyanuramide has a relatively low affinity for androgen receptors, but it shows significant anti-androgen activity in animals. RU-59416 has a very low affinity for androgen receptors.
Usage
RU58841 is a very strong substance with a local anti-androgenic effect. Unlike drugs such as finasteride or dutasteride, which restrict the conversion of testosterone to DHT, RU does not interfere with the body’s hormonal system. This substance is similar in structure to DHT and other androgens, allowing it to attach to androgen receptors on the scalp. RU58841 binds very strongly to the receptor, thereby preventing the activation of the receptor by androgens. Therefore, it locally produces a very similar effect to drugs that lower DHT levels-reducing hair loss and hair regrowth.
Side effects
In most cases, ru58841 will not cause side effects due to topical application. The blood circulation of the scalp is very poor, so the amount of substances penetrating into the blood is negligible.
However, in individual cases, side effects similar to finasteride or dutasteride may occur. This is usually caused by the use of too strong a solvent (usually DMSO), which will significantly increase the penetration capacity of ru58841.
In the case of the standard RU + ethanol solution, side effects rarely occur and are caused by an abnormally thin scalp or an excessive blood supply. In this case, try to use a lower concentration of ethanol or give up the substance.
Possible side effects of RU58841 include decreased libido, erectile problems, slowness of movement during the day, mood swings, and acne.
